I am trying to install socket.io using npm on a beaglebone (linux angstrom)
/> npm install socket.io
it worked great on older versions of node with older kernel. I am using node v0.6.18 now.
There seems to be a problem when npm tring to install ws which is supposed to install with socket.io
I get the same error if I try:
npm install ws --ws:verbose
Here is the result:
root@beaglebone:~# npm install ws --ws:verbose

Any idea?
That isn't really an error. The native extensions aren't required - it just happens to make websockets much, much faster.
I have no idea, but I did a complete upgrade to see if I could find anything, and I did not (everything worked). I had to reissue a command twice (npm up -g
) to get it to complete, something I attribute to an upstream server or network problem. Anyway, here's what I've got which works fine (a basic Ubuntu 12.04 x64 system):
Linux marius-i7 3.2.0-25-generic #40-Ubuntu SMP Wed May 23 20:30:51 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

I see you're on an arm system. Sorry I can't help you with that.
